Masculinity, Femininity and the Emergent

In this two-day dance workshop on the island of Texel, Tanja Meyburgh and Barbara Hoogenboom invite you into a movement immersion exploring masculinity, femininity and the emergent. Through dance, movement and systemic work, we will explore what becomes possible when we hold the tension between different qualities within us and make space to welcome the new.

13 – 15 March 2027
Netherlands

Something is shifting in our world.

Old ways of understanding ourselves and one another are changing. Familiar expressions of masculinity and femininity, power and relationship are being questioned, inviting us to reconsider who we are, how we belong and how we meet one another. Somewhere in the space between what has been and what is yet to come, something new is quietly finding its way into being.

How do we meet these changing times with open hearts and curious bodies? How do we honour the different qualities that live within us, those we know well and those we may have forgotten, hidden or left behind?

We invite you to join us for two days of dance, movement and systemic work.  A time to slow down, and to discover what becomes possible when we make room for more of who we are, discovering how these qualities have shaped us, what we have embraced or excluded, and what might become possible when we allow them to meet in new ways.

Together, we will explore the masculine and feminine within us, not as opposing forces, but as living qualities that can meet, weave and move together.  The polarities of strength and tenderness, structure and fluidity, agency and receptivity, surrender, separation and union.

We will meet others in movement, discovering how we can remain true to ourselves while opening to the presence and possibilities of another.

There may be places within us that have been waiting to be welcomed home. Old stories and inherited patterns that long to be seen, allowing unfinished movements to find expression, and welcoming what is ready to emerge.

There will be space for joy. For playfulness, vitality, music, laughter, connection and the simple pleasure of dancing together.
The new does not emerge through choosing one side over another, but through our willingness to hold complexity, welcome difference and discover a deeper sense of wholeness.

A space where nothing within us needs to be left behind in order for us to grow.  A space to listen, to feel, to meet, to weave and to welcome life as it emerges.
