Ancestors of the Soil: tending to our relationship with land
14 and 15 June 2025 (10.00 – 17.00 SAST), Online
With Tanja Meyburgh, Author of Reclaiming Ancestors.
Modern people are struggling to find home, deeper connection and a sense of identity in relation to land. We are confronted daily with wars, immigration, forced removals and increasing disconnection to the earth itself. Land in modern life is commonly seen in terms of ownership, investment, development and dispossession. All of these stories play an important part of establishing and creating our identities, the narratives we tell about our lives, and the ideologies we live by. However, when we sink into the deeper layers of the land and cultivate our ancient sense of connection and belonging, we encounter a different relationship to the land and all that have been born, lived and died there. In this session we will also connect to these deeper layers of the land and our longing to belong to this primal ancestor.
Ownership of land as investment and commodity, is far from indigenous ways of being in service of and belonging to the land. You will introduced to insights and embodied ways to work with the many physical, emotional and mental manifestations that relate to the relationship to the places that we and our ancestors belonged to. Attending to systemic principles in relation to land we can re-connect to lost practices of including, honoring and acknowledging the land and its ancestors. How can we come into relationship and develop a primary movement towards the earth and all its richness and complexity and stay grounded and hold presence. Building our capacity to connect to place can strengthen us, and our connections to previous generations in life-giving ways.
You will feel leaving expanded in your understanding of yourself, your ancestors, the world as a whole, and your clients and colleagues, and rooted in a sense of belonging and being grounded as a resource for your own life.
